The Burgundy vineyard accounts for 0.3% of the world's wine production with nearly 200 million bottles per year. It accounts for 3% of French AOC production. 
Nestling in the centre of France, its large surface area gives it an unparalleled climatic diversity. Continental in the North - Oceanic in the East - Mediterranean in the South. It is organised hierarchically into four levels of appellations: Regional, Communal, Premier Cru and Grands Crus. On the auction market, the Burgundian vineyard is one of the most expensive appellations, such as Romanée Conti, for example, which sells for around €15,000 per bottle.
